Now that you have completed step 1 and signed up as an affiliate, we can move on to the next important bit: Selecting the RIGHT products for your niche.
Even if you are not a blogger, YouTube creator, or have your own fanbase yet, this still applies to you.
#1 How To Select A Niche
You can push just about anything and get sales. Even if you have no idea what you are doing, what the product you are selling does, or really couldn’t care less – you could still get lucky and make money.
However, that is not the best strategy.
In order to find products that you can confidently market, ask yourself this one important question:
“Would I buy this?”
If the answer is NO, then don’t bother.
And I’ll tell you why.
When I first tried affiliate marketing, I went for the big bucks! I didn’t care what I was selling, only that it could potentially make me a lot of money. So, I started pushing stuff like remedies for erectile dysfunction. Huge seller on ClickBank, very popular product, but I had zero luck with it.
Why?
Well, products for erectile dysfunction are for people who have a penis. And, it’s pretty hard to sell something you cannot relate to…(no pun intended).
You see, people don’t always buy what you are selling, as much as why you are selling it. In other words, customers are buying into you. Your expertise, empathy, understanding, YOUR STORY – that is what people buy.
If people cannot relate to you, they will not buy from you.
This is why you should select products that you LOVE, have experience with, or that you want to buy for yourself.
#2 Finding Products To Match
Passionate about interior design?
Sell bedding, pillows, kitchen ware, towels, and other related products.
Avid gamer?
Go for designs related to gaming and tech, or tech products like mouse pads, headphones and laptop skins.
Food freak?
Sell cookies😋
Yes, that is right. Yummy cookies, brownies and cake pops with FUN designs, edible frosting rounds, candy tins and jars. You can find all that in our Zazzle store.
Just think of something that you love and are passionate about (dragons, iPhone, shoes – whatever) and search our store to see if anything pops up. And even if you don’f get a match straight away – stay tuned. We’re always adding new designs.
#3 Expand Your Niche
Say that your main niche is iPhones, then your best match is our collection of iPhone covers and phone grips.
That is pretty obvious.
But, how about expanding your niche a bit, to nearby areas?
Are most of your fans also geeks?
Then offer them other products with GEEK designs as well. Like t-shirts, mugs, backpacks and so on.
And, if they are geeks, they’re probably into tech stuff, which means you can sell them laptop skins, mousepads, USB sticks etc.
See how that works?
Groovy!
